Recovering Residue

As we continue to work in our area by cutting, hauling, dragging, and shoveling debris it came to my attention that you can tell plenty about a family by what sorta 'stuff' you find. There are now over 1 million cubic yards of refuse collected here in St. Tammany parish and many, many more tons of debris to be retrieved. In the above photo you will notice two distinct piles.

One pile is the heap of a prominent physician in the area. His pile was crowned by Darwin's Origin of Species book sitting high in crowned display while the second shot shows a congregant's heap which has John MacArthur's book on the gospel in grand view.

I found those to be a stark contrast between what the world clings to and what Truth commands. This dying world has nothing for us but piles of debris. Materialism isn't a theory or a sweet hemp slogan; it is anti-gospel.

Those who know the good news know that you don't store up your treasures on this earth.

For I want you to know how great a struggle I have for you and for those at Laodicea and for all who have not seen me face to face, that their hearts may be encouraged, being knit together in love, to reach all the riches of full assurance of understanding and the knowledge of God's mystery, which is Christ, in whom are hidden all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge. Colossians 2:1-3
